Es la preparación de la evidencia técnica y de los controles que la aseguradora exige para suscribir o renovar una póliza de ciberseguro, y para que el precio no se dispare.

Preparing the technical evidence and controls an insurer requires to underwrite or renew a cyber insurance policy, and to keep the price from spiking.

¿Para qué se usa?What is it used for?

Sirve para dos cosas. Antes de contratar, para llegar al cuestionario con los controles que la aseguradora considera imprescindibles: doble factor, respaldos aislados, EDR, gestión de privilegios. Y para revisar la póliza, porque muchas excluyen justo lo que el cliente cree tener cubierto.

It serves two purposes. Before purchase, to arrive at the questionnaire with the controls insurers treat as non-negotiable: multi-factor authentication, isolated backups, EDR, privileged access management. And to review the policy, because many exclude precisely what the client believes is covered.

  • Contratar un ciberseguro no es obligatorio en Costa Rica.
  • Lo que sí es exigible es la veracidad de lo declarado en el cuestionario de suscripción: una declaración inexacta puede costar la indemnización.
  • Buying cyber insurance is not mandatory in Costa Rica.
  • What is enforceable is the accuracy of what is declared in the underwriting questionnaire: an inaccurate statement can cost the organisation the payout.

  • Tampoco es obligatorio por ley con carácter general.
  • Sí lo exigen muchos contratos corporativos, que piden acreditar una cobertura mínima.
  • Las aseguradoras han endurecido los requisitos: sin doble factor y sin respaldos aislados y probados, muchas directamente no suscriben.
  • It is generally not legally mandatory either.
  • Many corporate contracts do require it, demanding proof of minimum cover.
  • Insurers have tightened requirements: without multi-factor authentication and isolated, tested backups, many simply will not underwrite.

El rango de mercado va de tres a ocho semanas para dejar la evidencia lista y responder el cuestionario con respaldo. Si falta un control estructural como el doble factor generalizado, hay que sumar el tiempo del despliegue, que puede ser de meses.

The market range runs from three to eight weeks to get the evidence ready and answer the questionnaire with backing. If a structural control such as organisation-wide multi-factor authentication is missing, the rollout time must be added, which can run to months.
