Es la ejecución de pruebas sobre los planes de continuidad y recuperación: desde ejercicios de escritorio donde se recorre el escenario en una sala, hasta pruebas funcionales y conmutaciones reales a la infraestructura alterna.

Running exercises against the continuity and recovery plans: from tabletop sessions walking through the scenario in a room, to functional tests and real failovers to the alternate infrastructure.

¿Para qué se usa?What is it used for?

Permite descubrir que el plan está mal ahora y no durante el desastre. Todas las pruebas encuentran algo: un contacto que ya no trabaja ahí, un respaldo que no restaura, una dependencia que nadie había documentado. El valor está en el informe de lecciones aprendidas, no en pasar la prueba.

It reveals that the plan is wrong now rather than during the disaster. Every exercise finds something: a contact who no longer works there, a backup that will not restore, a dependency nobody documented. The value is in the lessons learned report, not in passing the test.

  • No hay una obligación legal general de hacer simulacros de continuidad tecnológica en el sector privado.
  • El Acuerdo CONASSIF 5-24 exige a las entidades supervisadas gestionar la continuidad, lo que en la práctica supervisada incluye probarla.
  • En el sector público, la evaluación periódica de los controles es parte del sistema de control interno.
  • There is no general legal obligation to run technology continuity exercises in the private sector.

El rango de mercado por ejercicio va de una a cuatro semanas contando preparación, ejecución e informe. Un ejercicio de escritorio se prepara y ejecuta en una semana; una conmutación real a sede alterna necesita tres o cuatro por la coordinación previa. Lo habitual es un programa anual con varios ejercicios de distinto tipo.

The market range per exercise runs from one to four weeks including preparation, execution and reporting. A tabletop is prepared and run in a week; a real failover to the alternate site needs three or four because of the coordination involved. The norm is an annual programme with several exercises of different types.
